World Boxing Association (WBA) Super welterweight champion Miguel Cotto won over challenger Antonio Margarito via TKO in Round 9 on Saturday, December 3, 2011 (Or, should we say, battle of those Pacquiao defeated).
As shown live at HBO, the Cotto vs Margarito 2, which was held at the Madison Square Garden, was won by Miguel Cotto via TKO after a ringside doctor stopped the fight after Round 9.
According to some analysts, Miguel Cotto won by points before the bout was stopped, with the doctors deciding to stop the fight after realizing that Margaritos right eye is already closed and injured.
The Margarito camp requested the officials for the fight to continue but it was not allowed, with some reports saying that the final score would be 90-81 in favor of Miguel Cotto, who focused more on Margarito‘s face.
Margarito, 33, (38-7, 27 KOs), attempted to make a comeback after losing from Manny Pacquiao back in November 2010 at Cowboys Stadium via unanimous decision. He won against Cotto on their first match in 2008 via TKO.
On the other hand, Miguel Cotto, 31, (36-2, 29 KOs) also lost from the Filipino boxer in November 2009 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas via TKO in the 12th round.
