It’s almost Christmas and it’s time for all the Philippine TV Networks to launch/premier etheir Station IDs and bring the message of Christmas to the Filipinos. ABS-CBN has launched the Christmas Season Station ID last 4th of November, which already got a lot of positive responses (despite Sarah Geronimo was missing in action on that station ID).
Station ID is the branding strategies of radio and televisions around the globe. Sometimes, it’s excruciating to protect and be innovative of the brand – it’s not only the logo, it’s not only about the “sounder” or “stinger”, but it is how you’ll going to deliver to the viewers that you’re the best station ever and it’s worth it to tune in and waste electricity and energy just to watch shows the station could offer.
Station IDs are like commercial ads. You’ll see these in between shows, interrupting your favorite TV series but – the station is not paying anything to get them aired. Well naturally, it’s goddamn their name they are promoting.
In the Philippines, it’s quite a big deal to come up with new station id. It requires surpassing all past Station IDs, to begin with, and will be better and greater than other local television stations. The two major competitors; GMA-7 and ABS-CBN, constantly throwing accusations that one copied the other or the other stole the concept of one.
Nonetheless, I have to say that ABS-CBN Channel 2 is the best on this area of branding. No one beats it on this sort and no one knows how to create or fabricate what’s on ABS-CBN Creative Team’s mind. I’m a little bias, perhaps. I’m a Certified Kapamilya.
