It seems that starting a new blog is easy. I told you before and I’m still telling you now, ITS NOT! You should have a plan. I remember on Steve Chandler’s 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself – One hour of planning saves three hours of execution. So, you need to plan ahead of what you expect your blog will be in the future.

I know what you’re thinking?

1. Am I going to use a free hosted blog or buy a domain?

2. Which is easier to use, WordPress or Typepad?

3. If I will use a free blog then upgrade to a domain afterward, will that be okay? I mean, I don’t wanna spend a dime for something I’m not sure will pay off.

Hmmmp. Again, it depends on what is your goddamn intention why you want to start a blog. If you wanna make money, spend some as well okay? I might sound mad – but I’m only just explaining.

Blogger.Com or WordPress.Com

I already tried both free blog hosts and because my sole plan is to ‘Make Money’, I will suggest using Blogger.Com because WordPress.Com doesn’t allow you to advertise. Note: Don’t be confused WordPress.Org and WordPress.Com. The latter is free, the former is not.

Blogger.Com is owned by Google, that’s why insert Google Adsense is so easy and even included on the dashboard. Its Dashboard is pretty friendly that you just need to drag the boxes for widgets, ads, search box and links on your blog.

If you really want to look like a professional blogger using Blogspot, you can also edit and twist some codes on its CSS file. There are so many appealing Blogger/Blogspot templates that you can choose from. Everything with vibrant colors and whatever columns you wanna insert are available and they are for free. Bianca Gonzales is one of those who currently uses Blogger.Com are her blog host for almost seven years.

WordPress.Com is at different level. I can say that those who professionally write and seriously knows about HTML, JAVA or other technicalities. I tried this once but I cannot sustain it because my blog looks empty and nonsense. Also, paid ads are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs except those in the $600 per month VIP program. This was covered in the Terms of Service that was agreed to when upon signing up.

Chico Garcia is famous as a DJ, photographer and blogger. He currently uses WordPress.com to integrate everything he’s doing.

Domain Name and Blog Host

When I started blogging, I have no plans of spending a dime. I was worried that I might spend some money for a crappy idea of starting a blog that is 99% sure of no returns. Yes! I was pessimistic last time. But, I changed my perspective and now it continuously pays off.

Domain name is like your car’s plate number. It identifies your car’s registration. Blog host is a provider of services and tools you will need to start your blog. To give you an example, my domain name is CHAREYES.COM. This is registered domain name and no one can register the same name unless I unknowingly let it to expire. GoDaddy is where I registered my domain name. An example of blog host is WordPress.Org. This is what I’m using.
