I’m a Frustrated Artist

When I was 6 or 7 years old, my teacher and classmates in nursery school applaud my craft on drawing things. My teacher drew a stick-look-alike-lion on the board and told us, “This is the lion…” But, I don’t see any??? So, while my other classmates, including my seatmate, were copying exactly the stick-look-alike-lion, I drew it differently. PASAWAY TALAGA!!! I drew a close-to-reality-lion (ang yabang)! What I mean is, not a stick-look-alike-lion!!! So, my teacher saw my drawing and she was amazed and told me to draw the same lion on the board. Then she gave me lots of angel-marked-reward all over my arms. (TRIVIA: Because children love visual reward, stamp with VERY GOOD written on it is encouraged practice on some nursery schools). I boasted myself after drawing the lion and from that very moment, I know, I will be an artist. That was year 1989.

In the year 2000, I graduated on my secondary. I already decided to took up accountancy course. Prior to that, I wanted to be a painter. I love art so much but afford not to live with that. Why? Practically speaking, I don’t think I can earn  so much being a painter. I don’t wanna be like those typical artist I saw on TV who struggled so much just to put an exhibit and praying someone will buy their paintings. It’s pathetic. I don’t belong to those prominent family of artists, that even the canvass hasn’t kissed their pastels and charcoals, have already been bid on auction. Now, I called that… frustration. But then, this didn’t stop me to do my craft. Summer 2000, instead of having beach outings, I barely remember the time I drew these things, I started figuring out if I can really draw!!!

celine My mom brought the latest CD of Celine Dion, with the TITANIC Soundtrack. The cover of the album is nice that I dunno what came to me to draw it. This is my first craft and I’m really proud of it. It has a resemblance. Does it?
Until now, I just keep this drawing-thingy as my hobby. Honestly, I think I already forgot how to draw ‘coz its been a long time I haven’t draw. I still use my sketch pad and mongol pencil no. 2 on drawing persona. Hopefully, I can try it on canvass with the real “charcoal and oil pastels”

LESSON LEARNED: No one stops us to do what we love to do. We just have to have a right mind, a right soul and right timing to do it.
