My Top 10 Romance Movies of All time

I am a certified movie addict. Though, recently I don’t have time to watch movies ‘coz of my busy skeds, I will make it a point to allot one day for my movie marathon. And my favorite movies are usually romantic comedy movies that I have watched a million times. The best thing about romantic-comedy movies are the light story, accompanied with handsome guy and gorgeous girl that made the whole movie, worth to watch for. I used these movies as my stress releaser. There’s one movie which I became a fanatic I guess, but I didn’t include it on this list ‘coz I am so over it. The Cutting Edge. That’s right, the ice skating rink romance which I made a review out of it in elementary, high school and in college. Worse that I did, I bought a VHS tape, CD and DVD of this movie. If I gonna count the number of times I watched it, it would be more than a million.

Anyway, I hope you’ll agree on the best of the best romantic comedy of all-time for me. I’ll not literally discuss the details of the story. It’s for you to find out. Enjoy Watching.

#10 Someone Like You

A 2001 movie hit by Ashley Judd and Hugh JackmanWhat I most liked about this movie, is the eccentric view of Ashley Judd with relationships, the Old Cow/New Cow Theory. I adore Ashley Judd, who has so much resemblance with Shannyn Sossamon, Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron. She has this likable charisma that you can’t resist and she was able to use that charms in each character she portrayed.

Someone Like You talks about falling in love with the wrong guy, with a playboy-hunk-pretending-not-interested-guy around, played by Hugh Jackman, who eventually showed his care for Ashley. This is really a cute movie to watch with your family, friends and boyfriend/girlfriend.

#9 50 First Dates

I counted the dates but they fall short to make it 50. Well, I reckon that they just wanted to be exact on the number. (hehe) Anyway, after the Wedding Singer, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore make it again in the big screen. Aside from the humor brought by ‘em, the atypical story make it more a must-see movie. The love between the two bloomed so exceptional and unconditional. Imagine yourself, explaining to your wife what happened to yesterday, the other months and on the other years every morning she wakes up. This is really a fun-love-movie.

#8 Kate & Leopold

I have watched this movie many times and I still can’t help it but fall in love again and again with Hugh Jackman. Kate, played by Meg Ryan is a career woman in the modern world while Leopold, played by Hugh Jackman is the Third Duke of Albany, who’s a rich eligible man of his century and invented the elevator. The most likable about this movie is the entwined scenes of old-and-modern days. This is really a perfect date movie.

#7 A Lot Like Love

We’ve been intrigued with the love affair of this annoying host of MTV’s Punk’d Ashton Kutcher, with Ghost star Demi Moore. Our annoyance from the way he talks and acts thwart us to appreciate his movies. However, from the success of the Butterfly Effect, this movie, A lot like love proves him to be go out of the irritating impression.

I love the witty screenplay that evolves with the Love Me-Love Me Not thing between Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet. We love the thrill in a to be or not to be thingy in every relationship. This makes us wonder how the story will end or if it will end up in a happily ever after.

#6 Love Actually

I don’t like this movie at first. Although I love Hugh Grant so much, but when I saw the trailer of this movie, I have this thought that this is a typical British movie without any story direction and all you could hear are the fussed British tone I hardly understood. My basis with this thought is the lots and lots of stars included in this movie, not to mention, Mr. Bean is into this. But, when one of my friends lend me her DVD copy, I definitely loved it. And I bought myself my own copy.

Although there are many actors and actresses involved, the main theme, about “love” was made known perfectly using the various real-life situations. And what I liked most, is the story of Colin Firth and the Spanish girl. You must see this movie.

#5 The Bodyguard

Not all agreed that this is a must-see movie. But, what they didn’t know is that the Costner-Houston tandem is the singing aura of Whitney suits the acting stamina of Kevin. This 1992 box office hit has been watched by those teens now. I really love this movie. From the tagline itself, you’ll fall in love with your handsome bodyguard like Kevin Costner.

Never let her out of your sight. Never let your guard down. Never fall in love.

#4 Pride & Prejudice

Well, what can I say, this is the most prestigious Jane Austen adaptation ever hit the big screen. It took me a year before I was able to watch this movie. I have this impression that those set in old century are totally boring, although will educate me a lot in history. But, I don’t want to know the history; I just want to fulfill my rest day with entertaining movie. Again, I wronged myself. I now ended up, watching this movie over and over again and fall in love again and again.

I cannot believe that the pleasure and delightfulness will be best applied to an old century setting, accompanied with incomprehensible British accent. But, I feel engaged every moment. The story becomes so congruent with the emotional authenticity, which make us want more and more.

I love to be Mrs. Darcy.

#3 A Walk in The Clouds

We love being saved by adorable men who are willing to accept us no matter who we are. It’s a girl thing, really. I love the character of Keanu Reeves who voluntarily engage himself to a traditional family. At first, he just wanted to help the unborn baby and accept the responsibility as the father. But eventually, he falls in love with Victoria Aragon, the mother of the baby.

I love the traditional ways of the family, coz I kinda relate on that. If ever I am on Victoria’s situation, I will indeed look for Keanu Reeves to help me.

#2 Serendipity

Destiny. Every girl believes on that. Because girls are innately wanted to let the stars connect our souls with someone. We are afraid to commit mistake and fall in love with the wrong guy, which is more likely to happen, we wanted our destiny bring us to them. This sounds ridiculous but true. Every girl deserves her Mr. Right. We must blame the fairy tales that make us believe that there’s one man out there, who’s destined to be with us.

Serendipity, my second most liked movie because I love everything about it. The season, Christmas. The settings were both in US and UK. The Soundtrack. And of course, the actress, Kate Beckinsale. From then on, I watched every single movie she’s into.

#1 Notting Hill

This is the movie I am not tired to watch over and over again. Why? I duno. I just love it so much. It’s more of a cinderalla story, a guy version, in the real but not too really world, which might happen to each one us, included to myself. I ever dreamt to wed with Aga Muhlach. Now, Charlene feels sorry for me. This movie typically stressed the fave line of all by Julia Roberst when she’s convincing Hugh Grant to win her back, “I am just like a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her. OMG. I was moved. How good it that? And its popularity reached the level that you can’t even use in your own.
Grab a copy of this one. A perfect Date Movie of All time.
